Who this covers
This policy covers togetherwithbecky.ca, the campaign website for Becky Druhan’s candidacy for the leadership of the Nova Scotia Liberal Party. The campaign is authorized by its Official Agent.
What we collect
We only collect what you choose to give us. Nothing on this site requires an account, and we do not buy personal information from anyone.
When you use the Get Involved form: your name, email address, postal code, phone number if you provide one, the ways you have told us you would like to help, and any message you add.
When you use the Contact form: your name, email address, phone number if you provide one, the type of request, your subject line, and your message.
With either form: the date and time of your submission and the IP address it came from. We keep the IP address only to identify and block automated abuse of the forms.
What we use it for
To reply to you, to keep you posted on the campaign if you have asked us to, and to connect you with campaign activity in your own community.
We do not sell your information. We do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.
If you have asked for campaign emails, every message includes a way to unsubscribe. You can also email us and we will remove you.
How your information is stored
Supporter information is held in the Nova Scotia Liberal Party’s secure database. The party does not hand lists to campaigns — it provides controlled, audited access to authorized campaign staff. Keeping supporter records inside the party’s systems, rather than scattered across campaign spreadsheets, is how that information is protected.
When you submit a form, it is delivered to the campaign and the relevant details are added to the party’s database. The campaign’s own copy of a submission is temporary and is deleted at the end of the calendar year in which it was received, at the latest.
The party’s own handling of member and supporter information is governed by its policies, not by this one.
How long we keep it
Campaign-held form submissions are deleted at the end of the calendar year in which they were received, at the latest, and often sooner once they have been actioned.
Information held in the party’s database is retained under the party’s own retention policy.
Service providers
We use SendGrid to deliver email notifications from the website to the campaign. SendGrid processes that information on our behalf and is not permitted to use it for its own purposes.
We use Google Analytics, including its advertising features, to understand how the site is used and to reach people with campaign advertising. Google’s handling of that information is governed by its own privacy policy as well as by our settings.
Analytics and advertising
We use Google Analytics to see which pages people visit, roughly where visitors come from, and which parts of the site are working. It sets cookies in your browser.
We also use Google’s advertising features. This means Google may associate your visit with information it already holds about you, may recognise you across devices where you are signed in to a Google account, and may use your visit to show you campaign advertising later. Where this happens, Google receives your full IP address rather than a truncated one.
We use this to understand which parts of the campaign are reaching people and to reach Nova Scotians who may want to hear from us. We do not combine advertising data with the name, email, or postal code you submit through a form on this site.
You can opt out at any time. Google’s Ads Settings let you turn off personalized advertising across all sites; Google’s browser add-on blocks Analytics entirely; and blocking cookies in your browser stops both. The site works normally in every case.
Aside from analytics and advertising, this website sets one cookie, which exists solely to protect the forms against automated abuse. It contains no personal information.
Your choices
You can ask us what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email comms@togetherwithbecky.ca and we will respond as quickly as we can.
If your information has already been added to the party’s database, we will tell you so and point you to the party for requests we cannot action ourselves.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page changes with it.
